Our closet organizers are made with 3/4" Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) laminated with Melamine®. MDF is very strong and will not warp or twist. The Melamine® laminate covers all visible edges and is very durable and easy to clean. In addition to the standard white, you can order your closet organizer in any of 22 different colors or wood grains. Just remember that colors and/or wood grains add from 15% to 23% to the total cost. Another consideration is that colors (especially dark colors or dark wood grains) tend to make a closet look like a dungeon if there isn't adequate lighting (something often missing in many closets!). Key Benefits of our 3/4" MDF laminate
The vertical panels used in our organizers are drilled every 32 millimeters (1&1/4") for shelving and/or closet rod holders. What this means is that you can adjust your shelves and closet rods as your storage needs change. If you need "taller" shelves, you can take one or more existing shelves out and rearrange the remaining shelves further apart. If you need additional shelves, just call us and we can cut you as many as you need. New shelves can then be inserted between existing shelves after any necessary re-spacing. You can change from double hang to long hang, or from hanging to shelves, or vice versa. The possibilities are endless! We recommend that you allow us to "wall-hang" your organizer, as opposed to mounting it on the floor. Normally, your organizer will start about 8" off the floor and the top shelf will be at 85". We feel that a wall-hung installation offers five distinct advantages.
If you're concerned about the strength of a wall-hung organizer, just think about your kitchen cabinets. They support a tremendous amount of weight and are hung the same way as our organizers! However, if you want your organizer floor-mounted, we'll be happy to do that too. PricingWhile it is not possible to quote you a price until your closet has been measured and the design completed, we can give you a rule of thumb to use to estimate the approximate cost. The basic organizer includes all of your vertical panels, support braces, shelves, and closet rods. This does not include any drawers, belt/tie racks, etc. Generally speaking, if you have a closet that is six feet across the back and two feet deep, we can build an organizer that is six feet long (wide). The rule of thumb we use is the organizer will cost somewhere between $75 and $85 a linear foot. This depends primarily upon the amount of material we have to use. So, in other words, a 12" deep organizer will cost less than a 16" deep organizer. An organizer with more shelves will cost more than a similar one with fewer shelves. It really depends on the final design, but $75 - $85 a linear foot is usually pretty close. So, for the example above, the six foot organizer will probably cost between $450 and $510. Another thing to keep in mind is the linear foot concept. If you have a closet that is eight feet across the back and six feet from front to back, that does not mean that your closet organizer is 20 feet in length (6' + 8' + 6'). We only charge for the length of our organizer, not the length of your closet. What's the difference, you ask? Well, you cannot possibly cover every inch of wall space in your closet with organizer and still have all of it useable. In the above example, if you installed an organizer with hanging space down both sides of the closet, that would indeed be 12 (6' + 6') feet. However, when you get to the back wall (8' wide), you don't have 8' to use because the hanging space you put on the side walls now takes up approximately 48" of the back wall. That's because the depth of hanging clothes is approximately 22"-24". So, now your back wall is reduced from 8' (96") to 4' (48") of available space. Assuming you used the remainder of that back wall for hanging space and/or shelves, that would be an additional 4' of organizer added to the 12' running down both sides for a total of 16'. In this case, you might have 20' of wall space, but you will only have 16' of organizer. If you have any questions about our organizers, please call or email us.
